What is Heartgard Plus?
Heartgard Plus Chewables is a monthly meaty chew used for the prevention of heartworm disease and for the control of roundworms and hookworms in dogs.

How it works:
Heartgard Plus contains ivermectin, a broad-spectrum antiparasitic medication used to prevent heartworms. Heartgard Plus also contains Pyrantel Pamoate, an anthelminthic, used to prevent roundworms and hookworms.

Directions for Use
Heartgard (Ivermectin) is given once a month year round for the prevention of heartworm disease. The usual dose of ivermectin in dogs up to 25 lb is 68mcg – 1 tablet from blue pack, for 26-50 lb is 136mcg – 1 tablet from green pack and for 51-100 lb is 272mcg – 1 tablet from brown pack. Dogs over 100 lb are given a combination of the tablets.
Cautions
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Heartworm testing should be performed prior to the start of prevention therapy. If the animal is off ivermectin for 6 months or less, start the medication and test after 6 months since microfilaria, which take 6 months to mature, may result in a positive test result.
Possible Side Effects
The side effects of ivermectin are rare at the recommended dosage. Heartgard Tablets has a wide margin of safety for all sizes and breeds of dogs. It is approved for use in puppies as young as 6 weeks, small dogs regardless of weight, pregnant or breeding bitches, stud dogs, and Collies.

Heart guard. MUCH better than the trauma of your dog having heart worms.
Our cocker spaniel contracted heart worms just over two years ago. It’s a horrific procedure that is debilitating to the dog. Check your dog early, and if they’re clear of these nasty characters, get them on heartguard and keep them on it. Check with your vet if heartworms are seasonal where you live or a year around threat to your critters.

I just started giving this particular product to my almost 2 year old husky. Tala scarfed it right up with no problem. She seemed just fine on it and no reactions. I like giving the Heartworm medicine with ingredients for roundworms etc.. until my fur kids are at least 3. Then I’ll switch back to just the heartworm. So far so good!
